Purpose Adequacy as a Basis for Sustainable Building Design: A Post-Occupancy Evaluation of Higher Education Classrooms

Building design is one of the essential elements to consider for maximizing sustainability construction. Prior studies on energy and resource consumption indoor environmental quality indicators (IEQs) are increasingly frequent; however, attention has not been focused as supporting function performed within architecture. Educational buildings have specific conditions related teaching methodologies, including activating students promoting participation interaction in classroom. This manuscript aims explore whether social dimension physical space educational settings can explain a student’s academic outcome. For this, Learning Environment Social Interaction Scale was designed validated applied 796 undergraduate at University Coruña, multiple linear regression analysis results. The results display structure comprising five factors; these include novelties such division conventional IEQs into two groups: workspace classroom environment. In addition, place attachment, facilitator interaction, learning value satisfaction IEQ demonstrated their influence result.
